Networking
I can’t stress how important networking has been for my growth. Adapting to the culture of an organization is key to the success of a new employee. Similar to learning a new language, submersing oneself in the culture is the most efficient way for a rookie to learn about the "ins" and "outs" of an organization. I have attended internal meetings as well as client events, each offering new experiences and new lessons.
Open Communication
Another element of my internship that I admire is open communication amongst my superiors. Their doors are always open and they encourage that I ask questions, or for clarification on assignments. This simple act shows their investment in my success, which is not only important for my growth but also for my happiness with the company.
Feedback
Knowing what is expected of me is key to the learning process. My team makes my objectives clear and offers feedback on my assignments once completed. While a pat on the back for my good work is always appreciated, I tend to learn more when we dive into my work and critique for content and writing. Knowing from beginning to end what the end goal or objective is, helps keep the project in perspective.
